On May 29, 2025, the Central Bureau of Investigation in India (CBI), with assistance from Microsoft and Japan’s National Police Agency, raided 19 different locations and arrested six key operatives of two illegal tech support call center operations against foreign nationals, mainly Japanese victims. The scammers arrested are:

  • Ashu Singh, from Delhi
  • Kapil Gakhar, from Panipat
  • Rohit Maurya, from Ayodhya
  • Shubham Jaiswal, from Varanasi
  • Vivek Raj, from Varanasi
  • Ardash Kumar, from Varanasi
