On August 10, 2025, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in India raided an illegal call center operating out of rented rooms at the Rainforest Resort hotel in Igatpuri for facilitating Amazon refund scams against American and Canadian nationals, demanding payment in the form of gift cards or cryptocurrency.
While 62 employees were caught in the act, only five were arrested:

Police have also seized 44 laptops, 71 cell phones, seven luxury cars, 500 grams of gold and $137,020.40 in Indian Rupees.
