I’ve been fucking around in facebook groups that are advertising platforms for scamming service (most of them are trying to scam scammers but that’s beside the point). In an effort to try to use these communities for scambaiting I’ve found myself confused a lot. If anyone could explain the terms below in the context of scamming, making scam popups, etc that’d be helpful. Or if you could point me to a resource that explains it that’d be great.
**BSOD** = Bluescreen of Death, this blue fake error popup that says your computer has crashed **CC** = concurrent calls, how many calls / call volume you want to book, depends on the call center size how much you can handle. Too many cc and the calls will be unanswered and stack in your queue, too little and your agents will be idle **Payment Gateway** = person/business in the USA/any victim country that registered a business there which is needed to be able to charge credit cards with the money. The Indian call centers cannot directly charge the credit cards since they are in India. I think it wouldn't work without that + it's also a boost in trust/legitimacy if the victims get charged by an American company, then they will assume it's legit.
**--Aditional vocabulary--** **cloaker** = software that hides the popup advertisement so it doesn't get blocked by Google. What it does it plays normal ads when a non-targeted audience is visiting the site (e.g. young people or from another country) and when the correct audience visits the site it will play out the fake popup. **PopUp Script (Hard/Soft) ** = Not 100% sure but I think they refer as to if you can "soft-close" it e.g. by just pressing the [x] button or if your PC will freeze and you have to call to the scammer directly (or reboot ofc). **gift card blocking** = service that will allow you to exchange the iTunes, Google Play Store gift card that scammers receive back to real money. Usually it's big Chinese sites that buy these codes at 30% off and then resell it back to regular consumers for the original price. **PPC** = pay per call, you pay for the amounts of calls that the popup /adword campaign generates.
Standard is that the scammers often don't pay for prank calls so both sides monitor and analyze the call quality to track their expenses **PPI** = pay per install, paying per installation of an app or software
