I am really just beginner so I don’t know how to talk to them. When I do try to call Microsoft tech support scammers they always hang up. So can anyone give me tips about how to talk w/ Microsoft tech support scammers?
Play stupid and like you never used a pc.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A VIRTUAL MACHINE READY IF YOU ARE GONNA LET THEM CONNECT TO YOUR PC IN ANY CASE. DON’T USE YOUR PERSONAL LAPTOP OR PC FOR THAT. ALSO DONT OPEN THE POP UP LINKS THROUGH YOUR PC OR PHONE. DONT USE YOUR REAL NUMBER AND IDENTITY. EVERYTHING HAS TO BE FAKE
So the tech support scammers have 3 ‘types’:
- Pop-up: Fake pop-ups which say how your PC is hacked bla bla bla. You can find them here: http://scammer.info/d/21946-adaross-scam-site-list-07-15-2019. When you call them, they expect you to say that you have recieved a pop up on your pc. They’ll ask you how you got it (say you were browsing the internet) and they’ll ask you to read what it says to confirm that you actually got it. After that they’ll try to connect to your PC to continue with the scam. I would suggest you watch some videos before confronting them.
- Cold-callers: They usually cold call people and say that they have a ‘wirus’ on their PC and network. They too would ask you to let them connect to your laptop to ‘clean the infechuns or wirus’. If you call them or their company they’ll probably ask you how you got the number. What you can say is that you were either suggested by a friend or you googled and it showed up. Then you can say how you need support in making the PC fast because it has been very slow.
- Refund: These scammers aren’t exactly tech support but a different category. Their tactic is that they’d call/leave a message how you have a refund pending or w/e. If you call them they’ll tell you that they’re shutting/migrating their business and ask you for an amount that you paid to Microsoft ( which you never paid). You can either make up a number(usually it’s $99,$199,$299 and so on or tell them you don’t remember how much. Then again, they’d proceed with connecting to your PC to help you get the ‘refund’.
In all 3 cases above, they will ask to connect to your pc. So if you're planning to just keep them on phone, it won't last long. If you only need to talk with scammers and not make them connect to your PC, try SSA or CRA/IRS scammers. Their scripts are hilarious. But please, make sure all your details that you give are fake. Even your phone number, it should all be fake.
Thanks, everyone
