Additional information about this scam: Yesterday evening, at 6:49 PM GMT I received a text on my american number which I’d only just seen, from the 617 number. It is currently 4:25 PM GMT at time of writing. The message reads - “CL:, We are looking for CampL Victims from . Call 888-8043-907 now if you want to get compensated, Hurry up! STOP to end.” Calling the number asks if you are looking to get compensated for “Camp Lejeune” By the sounds of what the Bot said Press 1 for YES - It’ll proceed to ask you to leave your name and “best” contact number that you can be reached at and it’d also confirm you agree to be contacted. No need to hang up, after a few seconds it automatically hung up. I am now myself waiting for a call back.

It sounds like a call for a class action lawsuit. Camp Lejeune Lawsuit | November 2024 Settlement Updates

Just a few pointers here to explain something:

  1. If you weren’t AWARE I am a British user, NOT american so I am unaware regarding the lawsuits in general etc.
  2. I am on a VoIP service, clearly, and I’ve only ever used my american number to contact scammers (particularly tech support obviously) and a few of my american buddies! I wonder how this bullshit legal department managed to locate my number and just simply assume I am full american etc it seems like they’re just sending out these texts, for starters they may have obtained by a number list being sold BY scammers → TO fellow scammers. - Who else could they possibly sell numbers to for instance? (Also, I put in the Original Post which company they claimed to be and I couldn’t find anything about them.)
  1. The way the text was written too, just awful and unprofessional. Seems rushed in my opinion too, I wonder why! (In general recently I’ve received a few of these SO SUDDENLY so where’s all the logic coming from regarding who I am, the phone number I have, whatever they may or may not already have on me > Seemingly nothing though ?)
  2. In general, talking to the people, the texts I’ve received recently, the text info and the way the people have decided to word things etc all points to THIS also being a scam specifically.

I’m also only posting to my knowledge regarding this, so if anyone else can actually confirm they are NOT a scam with proof, I am wayyyyy more than happy to take this post down though and say “I’m sorry for my wrongful judgement of those behind the phone numbers.” My error.
