British government cracks down on spoofed scam calls

On November 5, 2025, the British Government announced a new telecommunications charter designed to eliminate spoofed calls within a year’s time, as well as to deploy artificial intelligence to identify and block suspicious calls and texts before they even reach a consumer’s mobile device.

The charter was signed by the Comms Council UK and major phone carriers in Great Britain, such as:

  • BT EE
  • Vodafone Three
