Greetings. This development is troubling to say the least so I'll get to it.
We are closing the accounts of people who are routinely posting problematic phone numbers.
We have noticed multiple entries of drug rehab and recovery centers being posted to BobRTC. One of these numbers was caught in the middle of being added. To avoid attention, instead of using the Medical category that is available for Medical scams, they were posted to Miscellaneous hoping that they would go unnoticed.
It got noticed.
So let's go over what Medical scams are NOT valid to be dialed on BobRTC:
- Hospitals
- Doctors
- Other medical providers (clinics, including drug rehabilitation clinics)
It's a good time to explain what Medical scams are valid:
- Healthcare open enrollment scams. You know it’s one of these when the agent asks “are you looking for an individual or family plan?”
- "Online pharmacy", where you rattle off the name of drugs that require a prescription and they offer to sell them to you. These are illegal in the US and several other countries.
- Fat pills, when the website with the phone number comes from a typosquat domain redirect
- Penis pills, when the website with the phone number comes from a typosquat domain redirect
- Durable medical equipment telesales (they're sending out buttloads of robocalls, the most typical one is for bace braces)
- Lead generator numbers leading to medical alert devices and back brace scams (better to use the Lead Generator category than to file it under Medical)
If you can't figure out whether it's valid/invalid, DO NOT HESITATE TO ASK. Post the number to scammer.info first and ask for an opinion instead of trying to push it on to the BobRTC phonebook. Acting first and hoping for forgiveness later does not work on BobRTC.
