Yeah, I got the text msg too on my TextNow number from that same strange non-American phone number.
I called the +1 (888) 928-0374 just a few minutes ago.
A female foreign criminal answered with “[something I could not understand] service” and I asked her to repeat herself. She said, “Cash App service, how may I help you?”
I asked her for her first name. She said, “Bella Dawson.” I guess she decided to give me a fake surname/last name as well as her first name.
I figured that the “Eth” in the text msg is connected to a crypto currency. I just looked it up and sure enough it is. (I know very little about crypto currencies.
Ethereum (ETH) is the second most popular cryptocurrency after Bitcoin. Founded by Vitalik Buterin and Gavin Wood in 2015, today Ethereum’s market capitalization represents approximately 20% of the $1.1 trillion global crypto market.
I have called a second time and Mike answered. Eventually he gave me to Kevin. I told Mike, and then Kevin when Mike put Kevin on the phone, that their criminal colleague who is a woman and who goes by the name Bella Dawson admitted on the phone with me that you all are criminals. She is not even trying to scam! (Yes, I was lying to 'em both because “Bella Dawson” was indeed trying to defraud.)
It’s a Mexico country code # that sends these texts. Got it also on 2 burners.
I did not think it was a UK number that sent the text msg.
Wow, a Mexican phone number sent the text msg.
Do you think that these scammers in India, or maybe Pakistan for I am not sure, have purchased a Mexican phone number to send the text message? If so, that seems strange.
Wait, maybe a Mexican phone number is cheaper for 'em?
They spoof the numbers
they don’t buy anything
how absurd to think such a thing
Do they buy special software to spoof? Oh wait, there might be some free way to spoof.
Still, why would you have Americans call an American toll-free number within a text message that Americans would know is NOT sent from an American phone number?
Then again, these criminals in general do not seem very rationale, especially in the details of their attempts to scam people. These criminals have problems keeping their stories straight anyway.
I had a robocall to my dialer last week and the caller ID that showed was something like 103756003
(I made this number up but it was something equally ridiculous)
It’s not even a number for any country
Yes, even on my VOIP home phone I received once a call from (000) 000-0000.
