Additional information about this scam:
A bit of backstory on this. So, it turns out some fucker is trying to use my banking card. I got 3 notifications from my banking app last night that I had made some purchases and they were immediately sus so I froze the card in the app. So, luckily, I didn’t lose any funds except for a $1 test transaction which I’m already disputing. I got a new card so everything on my end is good, but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t annoyed by this. A little bit ago, I get a super sus text from an email about how I need to call a number to unlock my card, fat chance at that since it’s already been reported as stolen by me.

There’s the message they sent.
Now, here’s where things get interesting, my scambaiting friends. And this is still pending info from my bank filing the chargeback and appropriate information from it (will share as much of it as I can without doxxing myself). The charge is super sus, this is how it appeared in my banking app.

I’ve never heard of this place before, WINPENT or WINPENT.EDU and doubly so out of North Carolina, the closest I’ve been to there was ten years ago and I’m far, far away from there. Obviously, this was the time at which I froze that card. But that phone number stood out, so I did a little Googling. That phone number links back to a company called “Vidioo Media Group” run by a guy out of New York name Ron Sagi. I archived the info I found, just in case.
Vidioo Media Group Inc in Hollis, NY - (646) 241-2286 - Profile
Of course, then I go check out the actual website, archived as well:
React App
The website is super, super sus and reads like one of those bare bones massage parlor sites, you know the ones if you’ve run into them online. It’s advertising like they’ve done work for Uber-type apps or Tinder-type apps which I have to put a big X to doubt considering the circumstances.
I then start to look into the guy himself. Again, archived. https://archive.ph/NpMDm
Linked there as well is his LinkedIn.
This is where I hit the end of the road in this little adventure of mine into credit card fraud. 8144384747 just leads back to a scam number reported by Chase Bank as well (not mine). Have fun blowing that and the email up. I’m still unsure about this Ron guy still, something’s super sus about someone trying to use my card for a recurring fee with his alleged storefront, which, by the way, is an apartment according to Google Maps street view.
