I’ve been getting cold calls from these free travel & cruise scammers for months now. The problem is, they always call from a spoofed number that matches your area code, so I’m never able to call them back and harass them or send other scambaiters their way.
So today I decided to take one of their calls and managed to get a number to contact them. I listened to his spiel for 10 minutes ("Have you ever been to Mexico?", "You'll get to swim with dolphins!" etc.) and then asked him if there was a number I could use to call back in case I had any questions or concerns. And here it is: 1(888)724-0954
As an added bonus, I also asked the guy if I could give him my grandmother's number to put in the system. He sounded so happy I could hear him smiling through the phone :D what I actually gave him was my sideline number that I use for scambaiting purposes.
I'm going to start doing this whenever I get cold called by these scammers. It seems like a good way to harass these guys since they only call from spoofed numbers.
