For the past few weeks, I have been receiving unsolicited cold calls from an agency that does business simply as “Motor Vehicle Services.” The agents will always greet me by my full name and try to “renew or extend” the warranty of my nonexistent vehicle. My phone number is on the do-not-call registry, and I have constantly asked them to stop calling me and tell me the true identity of their company to no avail.
However, it wasn’t until recently that I performed a Google search for “Motor Vehicle Services” and stumbled upon a BBB listing for a “Motor Vehicle Services” that falsely claims to operate from an apartment complex in Washington, DC.. The listing includes a consumer alert over fraudulent robocalls and postcard notices, and also reveals the true identity of the company as Autoplex Extended Services, LLC at 2410 Hwy 94 South Outer Rd., St. Charles, MO 63303, a company that has been on our radar since November 3, 2020 and is a “marketing partner” for Quality Samples Today
User complaints on their BBB and Yelp listings indicate patterns of fraudulent activity, such as:
- Sending fraudulent “final notice” mailers to recipients.
- Repeatedly sending unsolicited cold calls to recipients, even if they ask to be placed on their do-not-call list.
- Refusing to cancel or provide refunds.
- Repeatedly calling recipients whose numbers are on the do-not-call registry
An ongoing lawsuit against the company was filed in the Eastern District of Texas on February 29, 2024 by Orr Auto, Inc., DBA “Orr Volkswagen of Texarkana (Texas)” for falsely using their name. Both parties werew represented by Cory Jon Floyd of Floyd Law, PLLC.
