My mother received a call from them this morning and left a voicemail that was prerecorded. The recording sounded like a generic text to speech voice and said that her AT&T account was suspended and verification was needed, then I got the same call about 12 hours later with the same message. When I called back I found that these scammers use something similar to AT&T’s prerecorded question system that asks you questions before connecting you to a representative. When confronted, the scammer lady ran out of things to say and after trying to change the subject went quiet.
After looking up the number online it looks like they specialize in phone service scams, they seem to target numbers that are on the same plan and have previously posed as Verizon.
