Okay count me out of date with this information but i’ve noticed that there is a major flaw going on with scammers using whatsapp and this hasn’t been bothered to be addressed or pushed as a concern for as far as i’ve watched because scammers have became aware that if they can easily gain access to something they know they can attack users easily.. which is why i am making this topic in concern to this issue because its now becoming a widespread way to use innocent users accounts to spread their scams to friends or family, or using whatsapp to create accounts onto websites under the innocent users name.
This is how the scammer gains access
User contacts them about a problem => agent asks if they have whatsapp => the agent calls the innocent user on whatapp => agent asks user to screenshare => while agent is pitching a scam they send out a login request to the users calling number which is the same number hooked to their whatsapp => User recives notification of a login request with a code => agent logs in successfully without the users knowledge => scam continues anyway the scammer wants to work his concern but now the scammer has access to the whatsapp now scamming other users as whoevee he is logged in as.
How do i know this happened? We had a 75 year old woman who was a victim of a 4500 dollar scam who we reached out to and her grandson provided the steps they gave to her 75 year old grandmother. They not only stole 4500 but have made contact with 40 different users on whatsapp. Think of it for a second, if they were able todo this with one account, imagine how many other accounts they have access to.
This is a major flaw that needs to be addressed, which is why i am creating this topic. We need to work together to make a solution to this problem.
