Are some numbers on BobRTC actually Legitimate businesses?

Hey guys,

I was wondering how adding phone numbers on BobRTC works? How do they get confirmed and verified as for sure being scam numbers? Do legitimate numbers ever get added accidentally? I’m just really curious because even though I know a lot of scammers are extremely good at sounding legit I’m wondering if some of them may actually be legitimate? I would feel really bad calling real businesses and wasting their time.

If you feel that a legitimate business has mistakenly gotten posted on bobrtc just let us know and we will investigate. The scam numbers are vetted by software after trusted users submit them, and we listen to all concerns like this. If you call a number and it does not “feel” like a scam let us know. Sometimes they forward their telephone system to legitimate businesses or when a trusted user submits a number they may accidentally transpose a number.

@MuffinTop#121248 we don’t take submissions of numbers until you have built up enough experience and time scambaiting using BobRTC to dial scammers so you understand what the patterns are with scammers. On top of this we have a filtering system that examines incoming submissions and flags items for moderator review or outright ditches a submission when it hits on a pattern we know to be bad.

That being said we get transposed numbers and we get users who misidentify items. Scammers also sometimes forward their numbers to legit institutions or to victims trying to throw us off. Luckily the way VOIP works when a scammer does this a pen trace leads any Telecom worker investigating a forward back to the phone carrier that is hosting the scammer and can often result in the scammers DID being cut off.

We have a large moderation team that clears away bad submissions and we listen to feedback just like yours. If you're not sure about something please speak up either here or on IRC.

So - if I do, as I did with my first couple of posts, a post containing scam numbers they don't get investigated? I get that you would check them out before you approve my posts - you have no idea who I am - but I thought by the time they got actually published that they had been checked?
