I’ve known “Lord of the rings” since long before we were on scammer info. I love the guy to death and have a lot of respect for him too, but I don’t think he makes the rules around here.
A few years ago, the owners of this site asked us to post phone numbers in the format of:
XXX XXX-XXX.
Perhaps his idea is better, but we can’t just make up our own rules because we think it’s better. Heck, I don’t agree with some things in the tax code, but I don’t think the power that be would be very happy if I just made up my own tax code because I think it’s better. 
I see what you are saying, but perhaps we can all get together and agree on a single format to use as a standard. It’s utterly ridiculous to try to search this site for a phone number a dozen or more different ways before we post every time.
My humble opinion is that it would make everyone’s life easier if a single format were chosen (whatever it is) and perhaps written into the forum rules.
But I’m not a wave on this site, I’m just a sandcastle and agree to go in whatever direction I’m asked.
I’m not saying he makes the rules. But my dialer for some odd reason won’t accept other formats, I’ve tried. But for me doing it this way makes it much easier for me to post quicker. So I’ll stop posting repetitive numbers and check my saved numbers and see if it pops up, if not I’ll add it.
It makes it difficult to moderate. I check every number in search before I call it. If it is there the post is not approved. But since everybody uses different formats it looks as if I did not check making me look lazy. I agree we need to use a standard format.
I told Max that if he is going to insult me it is not ahso it is asshole. He still could not say it correctly.

Hey I definitely don’t make the rules here and I don’t want to! I know we’ve argued about this before but just to answer your question from my point of view, it makes this site better for research purposes if all the info about one company/phone number/website is grouped together.
I know that the different formats for phone numbers makes searching difficult and a bit annoying. But really for me it’s still just a matter of less than a minute’s work through the desktop browser interface, just trying different versions of the number.
