Any Desk Question

So when you tell scammers your AnyDesk ID on your vm, they always say to click the lock box and set a password, I was just wondering what this password does?

it allows them to access your pc without the “accept/decline” prompt

Do they do that so that so they have unlimited access or they do it so it’s skips security warnings and etc…

they do it so even if the victim disconnects it, they can just connect it back without any warnings or this:

I usually change the password on them while entering it, so for example, if the password is computer123, I’ll type in Computer123. Only xxx shows up.They can’t get in then. Sometimes they notice, sometimes not. Doesn’t matter because in the VM you reload the previous snapshot anyway without any settings.

Smart thanks for the tip

Or change the password after the scambaiting session is over.

Exactly, I like to mess with them during the current session so I don’t let them get in easily as a way to slow things down; I’ve been know to change it even while connected to them.

The equivalent thing for TeamViewer is called “Unattended Access”. In the event they use TV during one of your sessions, you’ll know what they’re trying to do. In both cases, TV/AD, they want to be able to access your computer without you letting them in.

Real life example – they did this to one of our clients, who had 4k USD removed from her bank account at 3AM, when she was sleeping. How you ask? She had a file on her computer called “Important Passwords”. They grabbed it, found her bank info, and transferred money to their accounts. Before you say “the client was stupid”, just know they prey on people who are elderly and dont know better. She’s 89 years old. Someone’s mother, grandmother, and great grandmother being taken advantage of.

This is tragic. In my retirement community I run classes on how to protect oneself, but even then sometimes it’s not enough. I show people how to encrypt important files, how to discern fake emails, the importance of backups, etc.

yes that’s what i do

or what I do after a scam is delete the AppData and get a new id.

here is a video on how to do it Video

can i reverse the connection through anydesk to get access to his system anyway

You will need A lot of social engineering to do this:
I have only done this 2 times here is how it went

When the scammer asks you: “Do you see the Anydesk popup for me to connect to your computer. You need to click yes.”.

You will lie and say: “No. Wait a second my pc is slow.”. Then you will make the scammer waste their time + impatient.

Then you will try a connection to the scammer in the same way he tried to scam him. then you will say: “okay I have it, you just need to click on yes”. The scammer clicks on yes and allows you to connect to his computer.

The scammer will catch on to your connection very quickly.

i have files on my vm with reverse connection in folders such as banking and crypto havent had any luck getting a scammer to answer my calls still new but have a little experience with computers
