I would like to point out that this isn’t new. The company behind the phone number known as “ReImage Software Solution, Inc” started producing malware a few years back, then made fake antivirus programs to remove those infections. The problem is, the fake AV would pretend to get corrupted somehow and urge you to call their company phone number for support, where they’ve in the past used tactics like Event Viewer and System Configuration to show the so called “viruses” or “corruptions”, and of course charge you for a fixation service.
This company also hires hackers to create fake popup websites, websites with info on how to get rid of their own popups, which directs you to their fake AV, and spam Google's search engine with advertising their numbers, under legitimate company names like Norton and McAfee.
This company wasn't always a scam, they started out making legitimate software cleaning tools, but their business started not doing so well, and so they've since changed to aggressive tactics.
