On March 15, 2026, the Franklin Police Department in Indiana arrested 26-year-old Savannah, Georgia resident Amber Dobrosky for serving as a money mule for her ex-boyfriend, who is facilitating “jury duty” scams from a Georgia state prison. How the scam worked was
- The ex-boyfriend would send fraudulent text messages and, later, phone calls from spoofed numbers through “Bluff my Call”
- The ex-boyfriend will pose as a lieutenant from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and threaten to arrest the victim for missing a federal grand jury date in Indianapolis.
- To avoid being “arrested,” the victim was asked to withdraw $9,000 from their bank account and wire it to a designated courier, or money mule, at a Walmart.
Dobrowsky was charged with money laundering and faces 6 months to 2.5 years in prison, as well as a fine of up to $10,000
