Call and say you had a missed call from that number, and you are calling back to see what it’s about.
Fairly busy call center based on background noise. Scam is a fraudulent purchase for an iPhone for around $400 (399 and change). Typical script trying to get you on the computer so they can play with you remotely. Guy I got wasn't real fluent in English and kept repeating stuff a lot. Typical fun exchange was something like this:
Amazon: Ok, now open your computer
Me: Open my computer! Wow... ok, let me go get my tools
Amazon: Sir, you need to open your computer
Me: Ok, I got my tools here - hang on a second
Amazon: Is your computer turned on?
Me: No, I turned it off because you wanted me to open the computer.
Amazon: Ok, turn on your computer.
Me: What? With the case off and all those electronic things exposed?
Amazon: No sir, I said to turn your computer on, not open it.
Me: No, you told me to open it, multiple times...
Amazon: You need to turn on your computer.
Me: Ok, I did and there was some kind of a flash and now smoke is coming out.
Amazon: Ok, open your browser.
Me: Dude, did you not hear me - I think my computer is now toast because of you.
Amazon: Sir, you need to open your browser.
Me: I checked amazon and didn't see any charges in my account... what Amazon account are you looking at?
Amazon: Started repeating my spoofed CID.
Me: Huh? I'm calling you using my next door neighbors phone - that doesn't make any sense.
Amazon: Sir, do you want your refund or not.
Me: Well, as long as we are pretending, sure, let me go get my iPad since you have now trashed my computer.
@drwat#179389 I called the 7053 number and got a Mr. Jason Spencer… yup, usual SSA script - cocaine in Texas, same car, same city, different day. After I told him that I only had around $1000 in my account, he played me off and said that he would send the info to the ‘federal court house’ and recommend they drop all charges as he believes that I am just a victim of identity theft <grin>
@fostok#179415 I have record of four Kolkata scammers (refund) in sector V in vicinity to these scammers IP of those are 103.120.188.124 ( I believe there are 8-10 scammers in the call center which I mentioned)
