How, that wont work as it only works on the mains than local network hence the name wake on lan. Plus you need it enabled in their bios to use it in general. Maybe the machine came on or they opened anydesk right as you did it.
Wake-on- LAN comes ON by default, my guess is there was people who had Anydex opened on the same LAN network, hence, wake-on-LAN worked and booted the device. or the device was on sleep and not off
