They keep calling me claiming I’ve been in a car accident (which is a lie). They have British/Irish accents. Following numbers all go to the same call centre (They only answer during Australian Business Hours) :

I have never heard of these kinds of scams. How do these scams even work? Do people actually fall for that?
@Zen#120289 Sometimes they offer compensation like RACQ scam sees caller ring ABC News offering compensation over car crash - ABC News and sometimes they try to say you caused the accident and try to extort money out of their victims. In both cases they will try to get your details to put on a “suckers/victim” list.
Also scamnet they may use details they obtain from the victim to commit identity theft

@TheLittleBirdWhoToldYou#120355 They called my burner phone from one number (other consecutive numbers were easy to guess). https://www.reverseaustralia.com is a great resource for finding Aussie scam numbers, but lots of numbers on there are legit. You accidentally downvoted my original post, can I get a fixation please lol
