I’m not cool enough yet to add it to BobRTC. Called it back a few times to verify. Then hit them about 20 times from a burner VoIP.
Typical SS scam... they tell you that your Social Security card was involved in a crime at the border in Texas with blood and drugs found in a Toyota Corolla (I think).
They're using the data from the Experian data breach. Their goal is to verify the info they have so they can answer the credit verification questions (what street did you live on, etc.) steal identities, resell the info, etc...
@H4RML355#119106 Their script can vary in details but, yes, it’s a Toyota Corolla ‘rented in your name’ and with your SSN. Usually the Toyota was found on ‘the southern border of Texas’. Then the authorities raided an apartment in Texas - usually Roylett but I’ve heard Plano - that was unoccupied but contained 22 lbs of cocaine and documents related to a list of banks. Many bank accounts have been created ‘under your social’. Blah, blah, blah.
@kaliban48#119161 Yep, that’s how it went. Then they asked for the last 4 of my SSN, what banks I used, cars, etc… It was hilarious, the scammer actually told me “now you be quiet for the next 5 minutes while I explain the situation to you.” That was my cue to interrupt him about every 5 seconds.
