My grandmother was scammed recently and this was the phone number she provided when I asked who she called. Unfortunately when I asked her about the details of the scam she was very unclear about exactly what happened, so my information regarding this number is speculation and further investigation is required. From what I could gather, I believe this is another Microsoft Popup Scam because she said there was (the usual) alarm/flashing screen with vocal warning and a phone number popup to call. She gave the person remote access where I believe they did the usual with netstat and tree. She listened to them until they asked for money, and when she said no they blackened her screen and presumably messed with settings. She brought it to Best Buy and ultimately did get scammed, but instead by Geek Squad. She also mentioned a recent email, something about an unauthorized $49 Apple payment through Paypal. I only think she thought it was related somehow because she got the email prior to the popup, but I doubt it was actually related.
Sorry for the severe lack of useful details. I tried googling the number and found nothing. Any help at all is appreciated.
