Also posted this in the malware section. Scammer called me with caller ID 1(800) 474 6836, claiming to be HP tech support and claiming to have received an alert about malware being installed on my computer. Obvious BS, I don’t even use Windows.
They had my actual email address and name as well.
The ID they listed appears to be legitimate; the robo phone menu is very professionally done and provides actual tech support to some degree.
I messed with the first guy that called and he hung up - but I received another call later in the day, so they must’ve kept me on the list. In order to get an actual number that goes through to them instead of their legit help menu so we can harrass them a bit, I told him I had a meeting in a few minutes but I would call him back if he provided me with a number - so he gave me one: 800-242-1824
