@Telescope#154016 Granny Mary called 'em up and got a Mr. James Salmtmer (think that’s right… he spelled it but was hard to understand due to his accent and poor phone connection). Usual script stuff… until he got to the getting rid of the old and giving a new SSN part. Oh, granny wouldn’t have none of that… way too many old contracts, documents, trust paperwork and other assorted stuff that absolutely could not have any numbers changed at this point. He sure did put up a good fight though - for about 10 minutes back and forth assuring that the Federal Government would handle each and everything at my doorstep. Told him “Sonny, I don’t care nothing about no Federal Government… Even Allah himself could not go back and change them, - heck, half the signatories are now dead, so it would be difficult to get them to re-sign their names and such”.
The guy paused for a moment, kind of not knowing what to say, and then said he would put me on hold and speak with the superior courthouse to see what can be done. Any bets?
Well, if you guessed the case was dismissed and the culprits had been captured and are behind bars - then you win a cup of coffee and 22 pounds of cocaine. Wow - sure wasn't expecting an arrest that fast, let alone having them already behind bars! He wished Granny well and apologized for all the inconvenience, and hung up.
Love it when these stories have a happy ending!
