213-245-2712 Amazon Scam

so they claim to be Amazon, tell you “there’s been a purchase of $129.99 on your account from Ohio that you need to verify, etc,” then once they connect to your computer they have you set up 2-factor authentication on your amazon account for some reason, then they run netstat and do the “foreign addresses” nonsense, tell you that there’s hackers and stuff. they also attempted to connect to my phone through zoho and TeamViewer, and since I don’t have a vm for my phone (don’t know if that’s even possible) I just pretended that it wasn’t connecting for some reason. they ultimately told me to purchase $400 in google play cards to get “lifetime network security coverage.”

the scary thing is that they knew what state I live in and had my dad's name. I just hope that's all the information they have. super concerning that the ssn or other info could be just floating around out there. my mom had someone attempt to fraudulently claim pandemic unemployment using her ssn, so I'm really worried my parents' info is leaked out there. plus my mom recently got scammed out of a bunch of money by trying to buy something from a fake little tikes website. these scams are so fucking shitty and the people responsible deserve to suffer.
