They keep calling my business number. Robo-call tells you your business Google listing is unverified and asks you to press 1 to speak to a representative. I talked to a few reps just to get an idea of the scam: they get your basic business information and then tell you that'll be a $599 service fee (this is free to do, by the way). I had one guy get really mad at me after I accused him of scamming. He said he gets paid by the hour so he hopes I had fun wasting my time. Ha ha! Have fun guys!

Learned some more about this company here: https://www.bbb.org/south-east-florida/business-reviews/social-media-consultant/local-listing-support-in-pompano-beach-fl-90367396/reviews-and-complaints?section=complaints

They used to be called "Local Listing Support." I'm sure they changed their name to avoid legal complications. If you search "Local Listing Support" on Google there are suspiciously no results about this company. There's a complaint on the BBB site about a guy who paid them $400 and they wouldn't correct his information. He asked for his money back and they said he was "past the refund time." I'm sure there are other uniformed business owners who have been scammed by these people.

Here's their current website: https://www.locallistingsecure.com/ I called the number on that site and the guy claimed to be "Oasis Marketing" and said that Local Listing Support is a sister company but he didn't know about Local Listing Secure. Sketchy.

If you paid for tech support services, and you later get a call about a refund, that call is probably also a scam. Don’t give the person any personal or financial information.

The refund scam works like this: Several months after a purchase, someone calls to ask if you were happy with the service. If you say “No”, the scammer offers a refund. Or, the caller says the company is going out of business and giving refunds. The scammer eventually asks for your bank or credit card account number, or asks for access to your bank account to make a deposit. But instead of putting money in your account, the scammer takes money from your account.

If you get a call like this, hang up

These guys are still active this morning. All you have to do is tell them you’re the business owner. Then make up a business name and give them a zip code. If they say that they can’t find the business, tell them that it’s because it’s a new business you’re starting and you want to get a Google listing started. They’ll step you through it from there. Try to keep them going as long as possible then turn it around on them at the end. I always ask them if their family would be proud of them knowing that they scam people for a living. That seems to be effective.
