I think this may be legit. I signed on and chatted with the guy using a completely fictitious code and his system would not accept it so he asked me to check it again. Process seemed quite legitimate, unless someone else had a different experience.
No way! Look at each URL and see that it is not a Norton website. Scammers will sound very convincing and pretend to check if the numbers you give them are real or not. Wouldn’t do them any good to say they are valid and activate it for you, since it will be these stolen codes they use in the “legitimate” scam websites they sell it on.
Here is the typical error page you will get after giving them your codes and go through the fake setup process:
