+1(833) 330-0037 Scammed by HP Printer Scammer

Hello,

I called this number thinking that I am calling HP, as I searched it online. They answered the call and told me that they are HP. I got a new HP printer and called them for help to connect it and they told me there is a VIRUS in my PC and that is why I cannot connect my Printer. They took over my computer and were asking for $300 to fix it. I denied to pay as I knew there was something Wrong about it. They now are in my computer and kept on calling me. I am scared if they got into my bank, please tell me what to do. I called my bank they told me there were 2 attempts on my credit card for $520 and $515. They blocked my card, Please do not call them they are big cheaters. They are not HP.

@SAM73421#159262 If you gave the scammers any more of your bank or card info… Tell the bank immediately to freeze your account/card and what happened.

Block their number

If they keep calling you from different numbers, tell those numbers to us so we can report them and then block the number.

Good luck, well done for not paying them outright and remember not to fall for other scams. But you can always ask the community if you need help :)

A bit more info on this scam for scambaiters:

  1. They’re on BobRTC: https://bobrtc.tel/numbers/d/833-330-0037-tech-support-scam

  • 2.

Multiple websites, primarily blogspot - a target rich environment for website reporters.

  • 3.

They do other scams and have run the student loan, and I have a suspicion of the SSA scam being done there as well.

  • Update: 12 sites, primarily blogspot, reported for advertising the scam HP number. Hopefully action is taken.

There is almost certainly a Trojan if u gave them access to Your computer take it to a Professional or use rkill followed immediately by malwarebytes… Also never give a real credit card out use something like privacy.com in the future… Calling the number now… Also use a adblocker for chrome browser Google it will help u to not Click on shady ads

Good point, there may be malware… Better scan your PC first.

Is BobRTC down right now? I can log in but when I click on a number it goes Error 524.

Ah yes. Thanks. I also finally figured out how to use Discord so I can get more timely info there. There’s a message there that they’d be up by 10 AM but it’s past that now and when I tried I get

"You cannot access this site because the owner has reached their plan limits. Check back later once traffic has gone down. "

    I hope they're OK.
