On August 8, 2024, the Navi Mumbai Police conducted a raid against Web Works India Private Limited at Unit No 902, Sigma IT Park, Plot No R-203,204, Midc TTC Industrial Area. Rabale, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra 400701, India after a case was filed against them by India Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
The company was found to have illegally routed international calls to India through the use of VoIP and SIP trunk lines since this past April, costing the Indian government $595,586 in rupees. These illegal activities are currently being investigated as potential acts of terrorism and potentially posing a threat to national security.
The company has also been on our radar since January 13, 2020 for serving as the datacenter for a kidney-selling scam and, later, an Axis Bank phishing attempt.
Three individuals were arrested on charges of cheating and violations of the Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act and the Indian Telegraph Act of 1885:
