Pre-made Windows 10 Scambaiting Virtual Machine (2024 version)

@Tomcat_ZA The link you showed in the screenshot is for the VMware Workstation setup which I host on Mega. It does work for me, tested in Chrome Incognito tab so I’m not logged into Mega:

Maybe clear browser cache, try Incognito, or another browser.

One question for you. If I’m not running a VPN, is there any risk that a scammer could find my IP/location? Should I be running a VPN any time I’m using this VM? Thanks again!

Thanks so much for this! Downloaded and ran it. Works for me, but few things that I noted are: 1) Windows isn’t licensed so I can’t change the username. I guess I’ll be Robert for now on? 2) Altercam isn’t licensed so windows starts up warning you about the app and then the looping video has altercam.com plastered across the bottom. 3) Altercam icons show up on the desktop and start menu.

@schnoid sorry for the late answer :S totally forgot.
Regarding the VPN, yes that risk exists but frankly, I’m not really worried about that so much anymore, it’s more relevant for plausibility, like if you tell them you’re from New York, but your IP shows you’re from idk Great Britain cuz you’re actually British, then it’s a bit bad if they see the IP address. Generally, using VPN is advised if you target some borderline scams (=that can be called scam but not necessarily doing illegal stuff) or companies known to sue. It’s also better to be safe than sorry, so if you have any good VPN then it makes sense to use. But frankly in 99.5% of the cases you’ll be totally fine.

Regarding the VM, yeah that Altercam stuff is annoying, I think I’ll remove it in the future builds. I didn’t expect them to be that annoying with in-app popups and notifications.

Regarding the Windows license, you could run the script at https://massgrave.dev/ it’s greyware AFAIK. Tbh I feel like it’s fine to activate Windows with this on a VM. Otherwise, you can just make up a story to the scammers if they ask you, like you bought the PC second-hand from the previous owner Robert.

Thanks so much for the responses and for the hard work you put into the VM! (I just noticed the response). I’ve been learning a lot about the VMs and been trying to play around with different features. Also finally got around to setting up a fake bank, although I really need to create a new more believable template for it. Curious if anyone else has already created a bank of america/wells fargo/etc bank template that looks legit?

Amazing, is there another link just then Megaupload ? Because of the download limit of 5GB

I love the vm and im guessing the the gaagle and micerosoft virus pop ups are normal?

@Carterscross thanks! And yes, they are normal. It’s in case you don’t have the popup link to the scam number you’re calling or if you want to spice up some baits and want to pretend like you have a “virus” on your computer. If you just wanna open the Chrome browser without popup, it’s the icon in the task bar on the bottom

Is it possible for me to connect a VPN to just the Virtual Machine and not my host PC?

yes but then the scammer might see you are using a VPN (which they don’t like)… and depending on your VPN provider there might be IRL info in it (so most have it on their host machine)

What is the best network option for the virtual machine when using a VPN on the host?

I have it set to NAT (not sure if that’s the best)

Can I please get a second opinion for this question?

Yes, NAT is the best option, it basically uses the internet access of the host computer, so if you use VPN on the host, the traffic of the VM will also go through it. The other option would be bridged, where the VM will directly connect with your router, basically it will emulate its own PC but that means it won’t be routed through the VPN
