Scammer will introduce them as Alex from OwnTheKey, then ask if you are interested in a home, auto or mortage loan. This is a scam as Own The Key is a non-BBB accredited Credit Repair Advanced Fee company with a grade of C+ and a Michigan PO box as their physical address.

Calling the scammers directly will list them as a 3rd-party company from Scottsdale, Arizona asking about your interest in taking out an auto loan. They will transfer you to a “specialist” from Lexington Law Firm, a non-BBB accredited Credit Repair Advanced Fee company with a grade of D+, claiming to be a consumer advocacy law firm focused on helping consumers verify that the information in their credit reports has been reported fairly and accurately pursuant to various consumer protection statutes. They are located at 2875 Decker Lake Dr Ste 200, Salt Lake City, UT 84119-2385
The BBB has also issued two active alerts over two government actions taken against Lexington Law Firm:
- In a complaint filed in the state of Utah on May 2, 2019, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau found the company in violation of the Consumer Financial Protection Act of 2010 (CFPA), and the Telemarketing and Consumer Fraud and Abuse Prevention Act, 15 U.S.C. §§ 6101 et seq., and its implementing rule, the Telemarketing Sales Rule (TSR), 16 C.F.R. §§ 310.3 and 310.4.
- On September 13, 2021, the business entered a consent order with the Minnesota Department of Commerce to settle a violation of State section 332.54 for offering, advertising or executing consumers contracts for credit services without being properly registered to do so, 332.56 for charging or receiving money prior to the completion of the credit services offered and 45.027 for failing to comply with requests for information from the Department of Commerce
Other lawsuits were filed against Lexington Law in the states of California, Florida Illinois and Texas.
