HIGHLIGHTS FROM VIRTUAL MACHINE BAIT:

  • The scammer, “Michael,” claimed my computer was infected with spyware and prompted you to run TeamVioewer’s 64-bit “QuickSupport” desktop client (ID: 1 682 437 688).
  • Once “Michael” connected to my virtual machine,. he told me to throw my computer out the window. I called back and got a separate bhenchod, “Harry,” who asked me to “connect to the secure server” by running HopToDesk (ID: 116847181)
  • Once “Harry” remotely connected to my virtual machine, he wanted to look at my browser history to find the popup and open my webcam and MSINFO32 before also telling me to throw it out the window.
  • I then called back to “Alex,” who asked me to “connect to the secure server” via TeamViewer (ID: 1 682 375 553). I was told to throw my computer out the window once more.
