Scammers usually pay for “campaigns” for their scam number to be added onto fake tech support scam sites. The number stays up on the scam site until the purchased amount of people end up calling them. Each time we make a call, we are wasting some amount of money.

Yes but the amount of money the scammers waste calling us is negligible. They can easily re-supply the cost to outbound call from a single victim, and by then that money is lost to the scammers’ service providers
